The rains, landslides, and floods from Hurricane Eta left Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro provinces with many washed-out bridges and people evacuated. The storm relief needed in our province has many residents and businesses very busy helping the families harmed by this crisis. Inside Panama Real Estate, Boquete office became a collection site for donations. Most of the staff were sorting, loading and unloading for hours.
They collected coats, jackets, sweatshirts, towels, mats for sleeping, shoes, pillows, blankets, canned foods, milk, baby formula, pet food, cereal, hygiene products, water, nutritional supplements, laundry soap, gel sanitizer, rubbing alcohol….5 vehicle loads, approximately 600 bags of supplies. Also, many monetary donations were given and used to purchase more food supplies. Local police were in attendance, helping direct traffic and helping load and unload.
Khristian Miranda, Franklin Miranda and Dago Castillo were the vehicle owners and drivers. Boquete Knitters and Quilters donated:
51 soft toys
28 knitted/crocheted blankets
90 sweaters (child’s)
128 caps or booties
Many in this wonderful community contributed, and trucks left for Volcan and Cerro Punta families on Friday afternoon. Thank you to everyone in this community that jumped in to help this effort.
